Interferon Gamma Activity and ELISA Detection Comparison

Background:

Human IFN Gamma ELISA kit for quantitative measurement of human interferon gamma (IFNG-γ) in tissue culture media. This kit is based on an ELISA with anti-detection antibody conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP). Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) is the substrate. All reagents are supplied. One pre-coated microtiter plate (96-well) is included. The assay is based on the international reference standard for human interferon gamma (Hu-IFN-γ) provided by the National Institutes of Health. Typical standard curves for each lot are included with the procedure.

Interferon Gamma (IFN-gamma or IFNG) is a pleiotropic cytokine secreted by Natural Killer (NK) cells and many T cells. It is the sole representative of Type II IFN. IFN-gamma has pleiotropic activities including: inducing an antiviral state in cells, upregulating cell surface markers such as Class I and II MHC, and regulating the activity of macrophages, NK cells, neutrophilis, B cells and T cells.
